The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website

Died of wounds 21 Oct 1916 aged 33. Son of John Topham, platelayer of Bridge St, Yarm and Matilda his wife who had both died in 1914; Topham left a wife, Mrs F W Topham and four children and she later moved to 63 Cray Rd, Foots Cray, Kent. He had joined the RGA as a Gunner in 1904 and obtained his commission in Aug 1916.

Yarm1914 believe that Charles Henry was born in 1883 in Yarm and lived with his sister Christiana 10 and brothers Thomas 12, William 8, Robert 6 and Joseph 4. Charles became a signalman on the railways before leaving home and becoming an Army Bombadier. In 1907 he married Florence Winifred Matthews, born in Allahabad in India, and had a son John Frederick whilst living in Dover in 1908. By 1911 they had moved to 22 Tollox Place in Laira.
